Rockwood is a small Downriver city (2.65 sq mi, 3,240 residents in 2020) whose 2015 master plan centers its downtown on Fort St and N. Huron River Dr, with retail in the Rockwood Plaza shopping center and along both corridors. Industrial land is concentrated in the Rockwood Commerce Park, developed in the 1980s on the north end along Fort St and Woodruff Rd, and a limestone and silica quarry in the southeast drives much of the city's truck traffic and revenue.
